People working with people who have epilepsy or who have an interest in knowing more about the disease.  People needing to administer rectal diazepam

Content

At the end of the training, delegates should be able to

  • state what epilepsy is
  • know about how it is diagnosed
  • understand its management and treatment, including signs and symptoms
  • understand about the different types of epilepsy in children and adults
  • have an awareness of medication and its effects
  • know of the triggers which can bring on seizures
  • understand the importance of  safety, supervision, risk assessing and information gathering
  • manage a situation at the scene of a seizure, including recovery position, calling for an ambulance and writing up the report after a seizure h as taken place
