Those who work with people who have an increased likelihood of suffering a stroke or heart attack and may need to care for them afterwards 

Content

By the end of their training, delegates should be able to:

  • understand how the heart works
  • know the causes of heart attacks
  • know the difference between heart attack, angina and coronary heart disease
  • know and recognise physical and psychological symptoms
  • understand the nurse/carer’s role in managing chest pain/complications and rehabilitation, recovery and psychological support

 

  • know what can cause a stroke and how to prevent it
  • know the concept of FAST and why it is important
  • appreciate the importance of acute stroke care
  • understand essential features of early rehabilitation
  • appreciate clinical problems
  • know of equipment and adaptations
